Louisiana State Big Game Records

In the early 1900s, Ben Lilly was a bear hunter in Louisiana who loved his hounds more than anything, and Lilly personally guided Theodore Roosevelt on a bear hunt in bayou country. Lilly also holds the state record for the biggest black bear taken in 1904. There are still bears there, but this is Louisiana’s only entry. As for whitetail deer, the non-typical entries are solid. In fact in 2020, a hunter killed a buck that scored 275-5/8 points in Richland County in the northeast corner. The odds, though, are best if you hunt a little further south in Concordia County.
